This is also one of the key reasons why it has become our annual spring getaway and a trip to Dubai is almost a much needed routine. You can spend your time without worry where you can go and at what times.

And while the 5-star hotels at Jumeirah Beach are very expensive, you can find many more affordable options in other areas or districts. On our recent trip to Dubai, we have stayed at three different 5-star hotels: one in the financial district, one in the new Business Bay area as well as one at the beginning of the Palm Jumeirah.

All locations had their benefits – above all, prices were really competitive for high-quality hotels.

Embark on your Dubai adventure with Emirates, the city’s flagship airline. Renowned for its exceptional service, comfortable cabins, and extensive global network, Emirates ensures a smooth and enjoyable journey. With state-of-the-art entertainment systems and delectable cuisine, your flight will be an integral part of your Dubai experience. I used to have the highest status with Lufthansa and therefore always used their networks. Only recently, I have tried Emirates again and have to say, the entire experience is very good – even in Economy Class. And I would encourage you to always choose Emirates on your way to Dubai.

Dubai’s culinary scene is a melting pot of global flavors. From Michelin-starred restaurants helmed by celebrity chefs to hidden gems serving authentic Emirati cuisine, your taste buds are in for a treat. Indulge in everything from fine dining to vibrant street food, all within a single city.

While I find the high-end restaurants to be comparatively expensive, I have started to appreciate the more basic restaurants a lot. There are endless very affordable options offering high-quality food from all kinds of cuisines. So I will probably continue to visit at least one of the top restaurants each visit for the experience, but focus on exploring the amazing food scene at lower price points.

I won’t name specific restaurants here but would encourage you to do your own research before your trip to Dubai. Options are really endless and I would suggest you plan around where you will be staying or which areas you could combine with other activities.

One remark regarding alcohol, as many enjoy a glass of wine with their meal. You can consume alcoholic beverages only in restaurants or lounges with a valid alcohol license. Prices are generally remarkably higher than for example in Europe.

The Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, is just the beginning. Witness the architectural brilliance of the Museum of the Future, the spiraling Cayan Tower, and the man-made marvels of Palm Jumeirah. Dubai’s skyline is a testament to human ingenuity and a visual spectacle you won’t soon forget.

But not only the outstanding and most popular pioneers of Dubai’s architecture are worth a visit. You can find gems all around town, basically wherever you go. So simply by being attentive, you will encounter so many more architectural highlights than most of Dubai’s visitors.

Dubai is a shopper’s paradise. From high-end designer boutiques in The Dubai Mall to traditional souks brimming with spices and gold, there’s something for every style and budget. The Dubai Shopping Festival is a must-experience for those seeking incredible deals and entertainment.

While nowadays most brands are represented in each big city globally, I always find it so beneficial to have them all concentrated in one or two very entertaining malls in Dubai – plus, in many more places around town. I also have the impression that the range of available items is far bigger than anywhere else. Sure, the more specific and rare a product, the higher the price, but at least you would have the option. I personally find shopping in Dubai extremely convenient. And even if you don’t want to buy anything, it’s still lots of fun to simply browse the malls and observe what’s going on.

Dubai transforms into a vibrant playground for families, offering a diverse array of attractions that cater to every age. Dive into the immersive world of IMG Worlds of Adventure, an indoor theme park where Marvel superheroes and Cartoon Network characters come to life, offering thrilling rides and interactive experiences. Or, explore the depths of the Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo, walking through a mesmerizing tunnel surrounded by sharks and diverse marine life. These experiences, alongside world-class water parks like Aquaventure and Wild Wadi, promise unforgettable adventures for the whole family.

Beyond thrilling rides and underwater wonders, Dubai provides enriching and interactive experiences. KidZania and OliOli offer hands-on learning, where children can explore different professions and engage in stimulating activities. With a plethora of family-friendly options, from captivating shows to interactive exhibits, Dubai ensures that every member of the family creates lasting memories. It’s a destination where fun and learning come together, making it also the perfect family getaway.

Dubai is like that friend who’s got stories from all over the world, but also knows what’s coming next. Seriously, you can wander through the old Al Fahidi district, sipping Arabic coffee and getting lost in the souks, and then, all of a sudden you’re staring up at some crazy futuristic building that looks like it’s straight out of a sci-fi movie. You’ll hear languages you’ve never even heard before, try food that blows your mind, and see how different cultures blend together in this really amazing way. It’s like Dubai’s saying, “Hey, we’re making tomorrow happen today,” and you can’t help but get caught up in it. It’s a city that makes you think, “Anything’s possible.”
